Como os materiais álcali-ativados podem contribuir para o desenvolvimento sustentável

Resumo


A deterioração do meio ambiente e o aumento das emissões de gases de efeito estufa demandam a adoção de construções e materiais de construção sustentáveis. A reciclagem de resíduos em novos produtos é um elemento chave para a consecução do desenvolvimento sustentável e da economia circular, dada a interdependência dos aspectos ambientais, econômicos e sociais envolvidos. Os Materiais álcali-ativados (MAAs) são cada vez mais estudados devido às suas propriedades ecológicas e capacidade de utilizar vários resíduos como matéria-prima. Embora haja muitos estudos sobre os MAAs, pouco se sabe sobre como eles podem contribuir para alcançar os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). Esta revisão bibliográfica sistemática avalia o potencial de contribuição dos MAAs na indústria da construção civil para atingir os ODS. Com base nos artigos indexados no Web of Science, foram considerados o modo de produção, as propriedades, características e perspectivas de aplicação na engenharia civil. A revisão identificou direta e indiretamente que os MAAs podem contribuir para atingir 16 das 17 metas estabelecidas pela Organização das Nações Unidas para os ODS.
